From Bengal to 100: CAB Honours Mohammed Shami Ahead of Landmark Appearance

Xtratime Webdesk: Mohammed Shami is set to reach a significant milestone in his career when he takes the field for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy final against South Zone at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. The final will mark Shami’s 100th first-class appearance, and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) marked the occasion by felicitating the veteran pacer in Chennai on Saturday.
CAB Treasurer Sanjay Das, on behalf of president Sourav Ganguly, presented Shami with a special No. 100 Bengal jersey signed by Ganguly, along with a signed cricket ball and a silver plaque. The East Zone squad also presented him with a jersey signed by all his teammates.
Ahead of the final, Sanjay Das also presented the East Zone team with customised sweet boxes carrying a message from Saurav Ganguly. Other CAB members and officials were present on the occasion.
“You don’t play finals to participate; you play them to win. Play aggressive, play for each other, and make the East Zone proud. Bring the Duleep Trophy home, boys! Best of Luck.”
Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) secretary U Bhagwandas Rao also felicitated Shami on the occasion. For Shami, who has represented Bengal throughout his domestic career, the milestone adds another significant chapter to an already decorated first-class journey.
