Watching Morocco Dominate a Team Like Brazil Is Deeply Satisfying: Karim Bencherifa

Moroccan coach Karim Bencherifa, who spent several years coaching in Kolkata, has expressed his delight at Morocco’s impressive performance against Brazil. Morocco held the football giants to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in the FIFA World Cup, and Bencherifa could not hide his pride while speaking about his country's achievement.
The experienced coach believes Morocco were the better side throughout the contest, particularly in the first half.
“Everyone saw that Morocco were the better team, especially in the first half,” Bencherifa said. “The result is fair, although we missed several good chances. In my opinion, the standout performer was 18-year-old Ayoub. He displayed tremendous quality and proved that he has a bright future ahead of him. I am very optimistic about this Moroccan team.”
Bencherifa emphasized that Morocco’s rise on the world stage is not the result of overnight success. According to him, the achievement is the outcome of years of planning and hard work by coaches and football administrators.
“This success did not come in a day,” he explained. “It is the result of a project that began in 2016. Many people contributed to it, and I was fortunate to be involved as well.”
Analyzing the match further, Bencherifa praised Morocco’s tactical approach against one of the strongest teams in world football.
“Morocco were right to adopt a high-pressing style,” he said. “Whenever they won possession, they attacked quickly. The team showed greater mobility than Brazil. Both full-backs consistently joined the attack, although Achraf Hakimi was out of position during Vinicius Junior’s goal.”
The Moroccan coach also felt that the break in play during the match worked in Brazil’s favor, allowing veteran coach Carlo Ancelotti to reorganize his side.
Despite that, Bencherifa is immensely proud of Morocco’s performance. After reaching the semi-finals in the previous World Cup, Morocco have once again started strongly on the global stage, giving their supporters renewed hope and confidence for the future.
“For a team like Morocco to control and dominate a match against Brazil is incredibly satisfying to watch,” Bencherifa concluded. “It makes me proud.”
