Who can stop this youngster? After setting the IPL stage on fire, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now announced himself in List A cricket with a breathtaking display of power-hitting. The 15-year-old Indian prodigy blasted 94 runs off just 29 balls in the final of the Under-19 Tri-Nation One-Day Series in Sri Lanka, sending a clear message to the cricketing world: I have arrived.
Just six days after being involved in an on-field altercation with Sri Lanka A players, Suryavanshi let his bat do the talking on Sunday. The teenage sensation produced one of the most explosive innings seen in youth cricket, dismantling the Sri Lankan bowling attack from the very first over.
Opening the innings for India U-19, Suryavanshi launched a brutal assault on the bowlers and raced to a half-century in just 11 deliveries. The knock is being regarded as the fastest fifty in List A cricket history.
His first 11 balls produced a staggering sequence of runs: 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6. Thanks to his incredible start, India stormed to 88 runs without losing a wicket in just five overs.
The young batter's innings featured 10 fours and 8 sixes, leaving the Sri Lankan bowlers with no answers. His fearless strokeplay turned the final into a one-sided spectacle and put India firmly in control.
The innings came just days after tensions flared during India's Super Over defeat against Sri Lanka A on June 15. Following the match, Suryavanshi was seen confronting Sri Lankan cricketer Vishen Halambage, with reports suggesting the two had been involved in verbal exchanges throughout the series.
According to reports, Halambage allegedly taunted the Indian batter during the match, saying, "The match is over... now go home." The situation escalated after the game before Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella stepped in to calm tempers.
On Sunday, however, Suryavanshi delivered the perfect response. Rather than engaging in words, he unleashed a stunning batting masterclass that left the opposition stunned.
A century looked inevitable as the teenager continued to dominate, but Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige finally ended the carnage in the ninth over. Tempted by a flighted delivery from the spinner, Suryavanshi attempted another big hit and was caught in the deep.
By then, though, the damage had already been done. In just 29 balls, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had produced an innings that will be remembered for years—an extraordinary display of talent, confidence, and fearless cricket from one of India's brightest young stars.
