He set a new World Cup record for the most saves in a 90-minute regulation match without conceding a single goal. The masterclass performance was a spectacular bounce-back following a 7-1 opening loss to Germany. It also saw him come just one save shy of tying the all-time tournament record (16 saves) set by Tim Howard in 2014.
Room faced heavy fire, with Ecuador launching 27 total shots (10 on target), but he finished with an incredible 2.48 goals prevented. He also became the highest of any goalkeeper in a single match in the tournament.He
