CBF is negotiating a potential match in Kolkata to be played in early October

XtraTime Newsdesk: The CBF has finalized the schedule for the first FIFA window following the World Cup, and the Brazilian national team will play three friendly matches between late September and early October. ESPN has learned that, in addition to the two matches already scheduled against Australia on September 25 and 29—first in Townsville and then in Brisbane—the federation is negotiating a third match, this time in India, with the game scheduled for early October.

The match will take place in Kolkata, in the far east of the country, near the border with Bangladesh. The opponent, however, has not yet been determined.

Discussions between the CBF and the organizers began during the World Cup, spurred by the large turnout of Brazilian fans in the region during the tournament. Images of thousands of fans wearing the national team’s jersey went viral on social media throughout the competition.

Only the final details remain before the agreement between the confederations is formalized and the contract is signed.

This schedule is part of the so-called “FIFA Super Date,” a new international window model lasting up to 16 days and allowing for up to four matches per national team, including both official matches and friendlies. The calendar also includes reserved dates in March, June, a combined period between September and October, and another in November.

ESPN also confirmed with the CBF that the goal for 2027 is to increase the number of friendly matches in Brazil, bringing games primarily to cities that are usually left off the national team’s schedule
