Raphinha breaks down in tears after latest injury setback, wife reveals emotional phone call

Xtra Time Web Desk: Injury after injury — it has been a season of relentless setbacks for Brazilian star Raphinha. Just when he seemed to be moving forward, another blow has halted his progress. The Barcelona winger's nightmare campaign has continued on the World Cup stage, with a hamstring injury against Haiti once again forcing him to the sidelines.

The latest setback left Raphinha devastated, with his wife, Natalia Belloli, revealing that the Brazilian international broke down in tears while speaking to her over the phone after the match.

Speaking on the Brazilian television programme Domingão com Huck, Natalia opened up about the emotional conversation she had with her husband.

"Honestly, there have been very few moments in my life when I have been left speechless. He was crying, and so was I," Natalia said. "We spoke on the phone. The next day, he underwent medical tests and came home for a while, and that gave us an opportunity to talk about everything that had happened."

Despite the difficult circumstances, Raphinha is trying to remain mentally strong. According to Natalia, the forward is focused on his recovery and determined to maintain a positive mindset.

"He's doing much better now. He's mentally strong and completely focused on his goals. The most important thing is to maintain the right mindset and believe that better days are ahead," she added.

According to the Brazilian Football Federation's medical report, Raphinha has suffered a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh and is currently undergoing intensive treatment. He is set to miss Brazil's upcoming match against Scotland and will also be unavailable for the Round of 32 fixture. A return may only be possible if Brazil progress further in the tournament.

Following the injury news, Natalia also posted a lengthy and emotional message on social media in support of her husband.

"I don't just see a footballer; I know the man behind him," she wrote. "I know his character, humility, discipline, and his immense love for football and for Brazil. I have witnessed his sleepless nights, the pressure he puts on himself, and the burden of carrying the expectations of millions before stepping onto the pitch."

She concluded her message with an inspiring note for Raphinha: "You are a tireless and indomitable man. You will rise again like a phoenix, just as you have done so many times before. Those who love and respect you admire your journey. The sweat of your hard work has already touched countless lives. There is room for everyone; we simply need to learn how to share it."
