Seeru [Sehwag] explicitly stated that when legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Sachin Tendulkar retired, similar discussions took place. But no such decline occurred. Explaining his view, he noted that when a favorite cricketer retires, some of their fans might temporarily stop watching the game, but overall, it does not make a significant impact.
Sehwag mentioned that he has heard many people say about someone, "If you stop playing, I will stop watching cricket too." But in reality, that does not happen. His clear stance is that the game is much bigger than any individual star.
