The Indian womens team lit the fireworks first with a hard fought victory as they defeated the Iranians 37-34. India inflicted an all-out assault on their opponents to go into the half-time break with a 22-16 lead. In the second half, however, Iran sprang into action to narrow the gap to one point.
Some important raids and Pushpa Rana's great tackle secured India its fourth gold medal in women's Kabaddi at the 4th Asian Games. The men's team successfully defended the gold medal as well. They defeated Iran 40-34 in the championship match.
The win was another good score for Indian kabaddi, as both teams defended the continental title. The sport capped off a memorable day of Aichi-Nagoya Games with India's double gold, ensuring the Asian Kabaddi arena was dominated by the Indians.
