Brazil vs India: João Pedro Ruled Out with Injury Ahead of International Friendlies

XtraTime Webdesk: Ahead of the much-anticipated clash between Brazil and India, which is set to take place on 3rd October in Kolkata. But ahead of this clash, Brazil is facing a setback as João Pedro, the captivating forward of Chelsea, is ruled out of the September-October international window due to injury.

On Wednesday, the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that João Pedro has been ruled out of the team due to an injury. However, Brazil did not disclose which type of injury Pedro is facing or how intense the injury is. As he is out of the team, it is expected that the injury is severe enough to force his immediate withdrawal from the national team.

Previously, this 24-year-old forward was selected by Carlo Ancelotti for the 26-member power-packed squad. It was expected that Pedro would be available for Brazil’s two friendlies against Australia on September 25 and 29 and against India on October 3rd.

As a replacement for Pedro, the CBF has called up Fluminense midfielder Mathews Martinelli. Therefore, Martinelli is set to be part of Ancelotti’s squad for the upcoming matches against Australia and India.

The withdrawal of Pedro comes after an encouraging start to the new Premier League season with Chelsea. He has featured for the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Hull City on September 12, and he scored one goal while providing an assist.

João Pedro’s will be absent, but the team will still have famous names like Vinicius Jr., Raphinha, Endrick, Gabriel Magalhaes and Marquinhos. For Indi, Pedro’s absence means one of the attacking options originally selected by Ancelotti will not be present for the highly anticipated Kolkata clash.
