ISL 2026-27: Mohun Bagan SG Coach Panagiotis Dilmperis Says "Lot Of Work To Be Done" After Victory Against Punjab FC
Despite the victory, the Greek tactician was quick to highlight areas requiring improvement, particularly possession and build-up play.

Xtra Time Newsdesk: Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued their winning ways in the Indian Super League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Punjab FC in Kolkata. Head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis crediting his players' character and resilience after they recovered from an early setback to secure all three points.
The Mariners showed greater organisation and clarity in their approach compared to their previous outing. However, going behind 0-1 in the opening stages meant they had to demonstrate considerable mental strength to turn the contest around. Dilmperis was particularly pleased with how his players responded, insisting that the credit belonged entirely to the squad.
"Being 0-1 down in the first minutes and then winning means they are very strong personalities," the coach said during the post-match press conference.
Despite the victory, the Greek tactician was quick to highlight areas requiring improvement, particularly possession and build-up play. He admitted that Mohun Bagan struggled initially, making unnecessary mistakes while trying to play out from the back. He also pointed to the lack of preparation time as a significant obstacle, with the congested schedule leaving little opportunity to work on tactical details.
Dilmperis explained that squad rotation was another challenge, citing the difficulty of making multiple changes between matches without adequate training sessions. He also praised Liston Colaco's impact off the bench while explaining why the winger was not included in the starting XI.
Subhashish Bose earned special appreciation for his performance, with the coach describing it as one of his best displays, particularly defensively. Meanwhile, injury concerns remain after Sahal Abdul Samad was forced off, with his knee requiring further assessment.
Man of the Match Jamie Maclaren, who found the net, emphasised that results matter most, acknowledging that performances still need to improve.
For Dilmperis, the victory is encouraging, but the message was clear: Mohun Bagan have plenty of work ahead.
