Eighteen-time Grand Slam champion and American tennis legend Chris Evert has revealed that her ovarian cancer has returned. The 71-year-old confirmed that she has already undergone surgery as part of her treatment and will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks.

Sharing an update on her health through social media, Evert said, "I've always believed it's important to be open and honest about my health. Following CT and PET scans last week, I learned that my ovarian cancer has returned."

She added that surgery marked the first step in her treatment.

"My surgery has been completed, and I will begin chemotherapy within the next few weeks. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to attend Wimbledon this year. I'll also be taking a break from my professional commitments over the next few months to focus entirely on my recovery," she said.

Despite facing another difficult battle, the tennis icon remains optimistic.

"Ovarian cancer is a very tough opponent, but I remain hopeful and determined to keep fighting," Evert said.

She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to those supporting her throughout her journey.

"I'm deeply thankful for my incredible medical team, my family, my friends, and everyone who has reached out with love and encouragement. I hope to see you all again very soon," she added.

Chris Evert is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in women's tennis history. During her illustrious career, she won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, including:

  • 7 French Open (Roland Garros) titles

  • 6 US Open titles

  • 3 Wimbledon titles

  • 2 Australian Open titles

Evert first reached the World No. 1 ranking in September 1975 and went on to become one of the most dominant figures in the sport.

Her legendary rivalry with fellow tennis great Martina Navratilova remains one of the most celebrated rivalries in tennis history. Their fierce competition helped elevate women's tennis to new heights and continues to be remembered as one of the sport's greatest matchups.

As Chris Evert embarks on another courageous fight against cancer, fans and the global tennis community are rallying behind her, sending their best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
