Jannik Sinner evades Alexander Zverev to win his second successive Wimbledon title

XtraTime Newsdesk: World No.1 Jannik Sinner won his second succesive Wimbledon as he overcame Alexander Zverev's challenge within 4 sets(6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4). This increased Sinner's Grand Slam Tally to five but this victory wasn't as easy as the score makes it look.
Sinner started awkwardly against this year's French Open winner against Zverev as the latter surprised the defending champion by winning a very close first set. The Italian made a comeback hereafter edged another tie-break in the second set before taking firm control of the contest. His relentless baseline consistency, sharp returning, and calm temperament proved decisive as he pulled away in the final two sets.
Sinner sealed his defense with a style with a stunning crosscourt backhand winner off a Zverev drop shot to bring himself a championship point before finishing it up with a blistering forehand winner up the line.
Zverev struggled to capitalise on the key points despite hitting 17 aces and landing 80% of his first serves. Sinner grabbed 68% of the points on his second serve, won 80% of the points behind his first serve, and converted two of his five break-point opportunities.
With 43 receiving points to Zverev's 34, the Italian also dominated from the baseline. He ended the game with 145 points overall, compared to his opponent's 130.
The loss was yet another devastating blow to Zverev's quest for his first Grand Slam victory. On one of the grandest platforms in tennis, the German, who has now lost all seven of his Grand Slam encounters with world No. 1 players, succumbed to Sinner once more.
